University of Delhi’s Lady Sri Ram College witnessed an exceptionally good year of placements. Third year B.Com(hons.) student Rhea Grover got an overwhelming offer of Rs 29 lakh per year from Parthenon-EY a management consulting company. This is the highest package received by the college in past few years. Grover, a Modern School Barakhamba Road alumnus, will be based in Mumbai. “I was planning to get a consulting job,” she says though the “long-term goal is to get an MBA.”
This year, six students have got jobs with pay packages over Rs 12 lakh the average for this group is Rs 15.67 lakh per year.65 students already have jobs. Last year, the highest package offered was Rs 18 lakh.
EY Parthenon is a first-time recruiter at the college, along with others such as Samsung, Adobe, Boston Consultancy. “Not only the highest package, even the companies offering more than Rs 12 lakh package, termed as ‘Super Blue’ companies have increased to 9 this year. In 2015, there were 4 super blue companies,” said Kanika Ahuja, LSR’s media-coordinator.
The companies who come for recruitment are divided as Super blue, Blue and Non Blue depending on the remuneration offered, brand name and association. The super blue jobs are ones who offer above Rs.12 lakh, blue above 8 lakh and non blue below Rs.8 lakh.
This year is especially good because even the average compensation amount is high this year at Rs 7 lakh with 94 students being placed so far. A few start-ups like Grofers, Singapore Angel Network and Nearby by Groupon too participated in this year’s placement.
“This time we have a collaboration with St Stephen’s College and Shri Ram College of Commerce. So for some companies, students come to our college and for others our students go to Stephen’s or SRCC” said Ahuja.
